Enable or Disable Announcement Replies | Canvas
Overview
Replies or comments are disabled by default. Comments may be allowed by selecting Allow users to comment in the announcement options. Additionally, if an announcement allows user to comment, you can require students to post to the announcement before seeing other replies. Please advised, the allow users to comment option is persistent, meaning the option you select when creating or editing an announcement will carry over when you create a new announcement in the course. You can also disable or enable comments after the announcement is posted.
- Click Courses.
- Click Announcements.
- In Course Navigation, click the Announcements link.
- Add a Topic Title.
- Enter the Announcement content in the Content Editor field.
- In the Post to field, select the Sections to post to.
- To select specific sections for your announcement, click the Post to drop-down menu and select sections from the list provided. By default, Canvas will send your announcement to all sections within your course. If your course does not have sections, Canvas will still show the All Sections option, and all course users can view the announcement.
- Under Options, select Allow users to comment.
- Alternative: enable Users must post before seeing replies.
- Click Save.
