Overview

You can make a quiz available to all your students before or after the due date by setting availability dates. You can use availability dates for both New Quizzes and Classic Quizzes.

Please be advised:

Quizzes have an autosubmit feature tied to the Until (lock) date, which may affect student submissions. Only quiz attempts that have been started are auto-submitted. Common quiz scenarios and date results include the following:
- No dates: quiz is never marked late and autosubmitted at course conclude (see course settings)
- Due date only: quiz is marked late at Due date and autosubmitted at course conclude (see course settings)
- Due date with Until date: quiz is marked late at Due date and autosubmitted at Until date
- Time limit: quiz is autosubmitted when time expires. The time limit will still expire if a student navigates away from the quiz. The quiz will autosubmit when the student navigates to the quiz page again.
- Time limit with Until date: quiz is autosubmitted when time expires unless the Until date expires first.

In Course Navigation, click the Quizzes link.
To add a new quiz, click the Add Quiz button.
If your course has New Quizzesenabled, you must select a quiz engine.
- To select New Quizzes, click the New Quizzes option [1].
- To create a classic quiz, click the Classic Quizzes option [2].
- Then click the Submit button [3].

Edit Quiz

To edit the settings of an existing quiz, locate the quiz [1].
1. Classic Quizzes display an empty Quiz icon [2].
2. New Quizzes display a filled quiz icon [3].
To edit the quiz, click the Options icon [4].
Select the Edit option [5].

View Availability Dates

To select the date and time when the assignments will become available to students, click on the calendar icon under Available from [1]. If no time is set, this date defaults to 12:00 am for the course time zone.
To select the date and time when students can no longer submit the assignment, click on the calendar under Until [2]. If a date does not include a time, the listed date defaults to the course's default due time.
When the assignment is published, blank availability date fields allow the assignment to be viewed throughout the entire course.
Note: If you have set section override dates in your course, you may need to select a course section and set availability dates that fall within the section override dates.

Set Available From Date

To set an Available From date, click the calendar icon [1] and select the date [2] and time [3].
Click Save.

Set Until Date

To set an Until date, click the calendar icon [1].
Select the date [2] and time [3].
Click the Done button [4].
Click Save.
