Professional Communication Class | Canvas

Objective: These instructions are designed to help teachers properly import, set up, and activate the Professional Communications course in Canvas. Following these steps ensures that both instructors and students have access to the digital curriculum and resources required for successful participation in the class.

🔐 Step-by-Step for Teachers

1. Log Into Canvas

From Classlink, find Canvas and log in with your district credentials

2. Import the Course from Commons

Click Commons on the left-hand global menu.
In the search bar, type Professional Communications.

Click the course, then hit Import/Download.

Choose the course shell to import the content into (via Synergy).
Click Import into Course.

3. After Importing content

Go to your Courses and open the selected class.
Click on Modules.
Scroll down to the section labeled Resources to activate the subscription.

🚨 IMPORTANT: INSTRUCTORS MUST Activate the Subscription FIRST!

This is required for both teachers and students before they can use the content.

👩‍🏫 Teacher Activation

Inside the Resources module, click:
- “INSTRUCTOR – Activate Your Subscription” (DO NOT PUBLISH)
Follow the prompts to complete the activation process.

👨‍🎓 Student Activation

Once your instructor subscription is activated:
- Publish the “Student – Activate Your Subscription” item for students to activate.
✅ All students must activate their subscription before participating in class.
🔄 New students who join later will also need to complete this step.
