Embedded YouTube Videos Ads | Canvas
Objective: Starting September 22, 2025, YouTube videos embedded directly (without using Canvas Studio) may begin showing ads or in-video link overlays. Canvas Studio embedded media from YouTube will not have those. Instructure released a tool (as of September 1, 2025) to scan course content for embedded YouTube videos and replace them with Canvas Studio embed versions.
*This does NOT apply if you have YouTube links (not embedded), the guidance is to manually add those videos into Canvas Studio and replace links with Studio embeds.
IST has turned on the YouTube Migration Tool to help move YouTube videos embedded in Canvas over to Canvas Studio.

NOTE: It does not scan New Quizzes content.
If you do NOT see the YouTube Migration Tool, it can be enable by Course Settings → Feature Options. After turning it on, it appears in the course navigation.
